Brian Doerksen, longtime worship leader and recording artist, has authored some of our most beloved worship songs, including Faithful One, Refiner’s Fire, Hope of the Nations, and Come, Now is the Time to Worship, plus many others.
Back in the 90’s Brian and I were neighbors in Langley, BC, and now nearly four decades later we remain charter members of a small mutual admiration society. Recently we got together for a chat about our two latest projects: my book Same Old, Same New: The Consolation of the Ordinary, and Brian’s new album Love for a Lifetime. In honor their 40th wedding anniversary, Brian wrote and recorded twelve love songs for his wife Joyce, celebrating the phenomenon of long and faithful love (as opposed to most popular love songs which, let’s face it, are usually about flash-in-the-pan flings).
